PORT SHELDON TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jan. 31, 2022) – A 47-year-old West Olive woman was injured in a single-vehicle, rollover crash between Holland and Grand Haven on Monday morning.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Eric Westveer, deputies and first responders were dispatched at 9:40 AM. “Our investigation at the scene showed that a 2001 Ford pickup was traveling west on Stanton Street, approaching Hiawatha Road, when the driver lost control and went off the south side of the roadway,” Westveer said in a department statement. “The vehicle then struck a tree and overturned. The driver, who was the sole occupant, was pinned in the vehicle and suffered serious injuries.”
After being extricated by fire crews from Port Sheldon and Grand Haven, the unnamed motorist was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids for treatment. The woman apparently wasn’t buckled up, according to Westveer, as the crash remains under investigation.
