HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Hope College will host the award-winning former vice president at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Gail C. Christopher, who will speaking about creating the beloved community at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022. The public is invited and admission is free. The event will also be livestreamed via the Hope College YouTube channel and on hope.edu/live.
Christopher, currently the National Collaborative for Health Equity’s executive director, will be at the Concert Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil Rights Lecture at Hope College. Her appearance, which people can attend virtually, leads Hope College into Black History Month observances.
Christopher is an award-winning social change agent with expertise in the social determinants of health and well-being and in related public policies, according to Hope College officials. Her work is described as infusing “holistic health and diversity concepts into public sector programs and policy discourse.”
She recently retired from her role as senior advisor and vice president at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, which showcased the America Healing initiative and the Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation effort. Christopher also served as Kellogg’s vice president for program strategy, “and worked on place-based programming in New Orleans and New Mexico,” according to Hope’s announcement of her upcoming appearance.
In 2019, Christopher was hired as the Washington, D.C.-based National Collaborative for Health Equity’s executive director. The collaborative “seeks to promote health equity by harnessing data, developing leaders, and catalyzing partnerships across the many different sectors that share responsibility for creating a more equitable and just society,” according to Hope’s announcement of her Holland appearance.

Hope is currently requires all people to wear masks while indoors on campus, unless in their living space or alone in their work space, to limit the spread of COVID-19.
