Marjorie Ann (Marge) Rycenga 82, passed away peacefully at Spectrum Hospital – Butterworth Campus on December 24, 2021. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan June 22, 1939, to John and Martha (neè Baker) Yonker. She attended Grand Haven Christian and Muskegon Christian Schools, graduating in 1958. She went on to receive a diploma from Grand Rapids School of Beauty Culture. She spent her working career as a hairdresser. Marge had a beautiful head of hair that was always done up!
She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church where she was active in the kitchen – serving many luncheons.
Marge is survived by her husband of sixty years, Elwood, and her sons Scott (Linda) and Kent (Cherry), grandchildren, Chad Shosten, Tyler (Jessica) Rycenga, Sarah Rycenga, Katelyn Rycenga, Kelsey (Sean) Graff, and Kamryn Rycenga, and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Lorena (Peach) Laman and Judy Arbogast. Her in-laws, Jill Yonker, Roger and Edith Rycenga and Ron Higbee, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Wally and Ted, and a sister Ruthie.
A memorial service will be at 11 am Monday (January 3) at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street, with Rev. Deb Yurk officiating. The burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery. Visitation will be 10-10:45 am prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland or Trinity Reformed Church Mission Fund.
