WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO AM/FM) – The United States House will return for legislative business Tuesday, and Sixth District Congressman Fred Upton says they have a healthy end-of-year laundry list to complete.
Upton says among the items are a Defense Authorization bill, which has already passed the House and is waiting to go to a conference committee once the Senate passes it. A debt-ceiling extension to prevent a U.S. Government default is also on the agenda for lawmakers.
The congressman says he is also pushing to ensure there aren’t across-the-board reimbursement Medicare provider cuts of perhaps 10% by the end of the year. Upton is a co-sponsor of bipartisan legislation to prevent the cuts, and he says his colleagues need to pass it on the House Floor this week
