LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Wednesday, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that the modern campgrounds at Interlochen State Park will be opening late next year.
According to the announcement, the late start is due to the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant.
This means that the modern campground, cabins and sanitation station won’t be open until at least the end of June 2022.
The Green Lake rustic campground will open April 25 as regularly scheduled. If there are any timeline updates, they will be posted mid-March.
“As we have posted in the past, this upgrade is needed to ensure that the waste collected at the park is treated to allowable standards, and to protect the ground water and our two wonderful lakes,” officials said in the announcement.
