MARSHALL, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – This coming Sunday will mark the end of an era for Michigan shoppers.
The last K Mart in the state will open its doors in Marshall for the last time at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, with everything in the store 85 percent off.
The store closing will complete an era of K Mart and Kresge stores throughout Michigan that began in 1899 with the initial location in downtown Detroit.
At one time, there were thousands of stores worldwide, including a Kresge store in the Southland Mall in Portage, and three K Marts in the Kalamazoo area.
