DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The border has finally reopened to people from Canada who have been vaccinated for COVID-19 after being closed since March 2020. Many travelers were happy to finally be able to head over the Ambassador Bridge into Detroit.
Canadian visitors will have to provide a negative test for the virus before being let back into their country. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Detroit Field office director Christopher Perry says Canadians will have to show paperwork to get into the U.S..
One family from Toronto entered Detroit Monday to visit family in Chicago, and another family was headed to Atlanta to visit their son, among other travelers.
