OTSEGO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Allegan County authorities are looking for a suspect accused of assaulting an 86-year-old man after a dispute at a gas station. It happened Wednesday afternoon at a Circle K station in Otsego Township.
The victim, Billy Simpson, had apparently pulled up to a pump at the same time as another vehicle, which led to the assault. A clerk, who reported the incident in a 9-1-1 call, said the man got out of the car and attacked the elderly man as he was opening his door. The Sheriff’s office says it is unclear if a weapon was used.
The assault was out of view of the gas station’s surveillance cameras, but video from a nearby business captured the suspect’s vehicle leaving the gas station.
Simpson, who is a U.S. Army veteran, is recovering from his injuries at a hospital according to family members.
