HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Ottawa County Sheriff’s Capt. Jake Sparks says a brief shelter-in-place order issued at West Ottawa High School gave police and school officials time to confirm that an online threat to the school was a hoax.
Police were called at 11:55 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021.
Sparks indicated in an email detectives found the internet post that caused the uproar “was a non-credible threat that has been circulating the internet throughout multiple states. There is no current threat or danger to staff or students at West Ottawa High School.”
One hour after police issued the shelter-in-place order, they removed it, with all routine school activities resuming.
