NEWAYGO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The father of a teen who brought an explosive device to a school in Newaygo County will spend four years in prison.
Back in March, that device was accidentally detonated at Newaygo High School. It injured the teen, who lost both of his thumbs in the explosion, and some others at the school.
Authorities subsequently searched the home of his father, David Saylor Sr.. It led to charges being filed and Saylor eventually pleaded guilty to possession of a pipe bomb and a stolen gun.
Saylor admitted that he and his son had a hobby of designing and made explosives for the past couple of years.
