STEVENSVILLE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Lincoln Township Police Department has released a sketch of a suspect thought to be involved with two assaults that took place at Grand Mere State Park.
The assaults are said to have taken place on April 1 and September 20 of this year, with the sketch released to the public on October 8.
According to an official announcement, Lincoln Township Police have been following up on multiple tips received on the assaults. Evidence from both cases has been submitted to the Michigan State Police (MSP) Crime Lab in Grand Rapids.
Since the initial assault in April, officers with the Lincoln Township Police Department have patrolled the park as often as shift coverage, call volumes and resources allow.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 30’s and is approximately 6 feet tall. He is described as having dark hair and an athletic build. He may be driving a silver or grey SUV.
Other than the sketch, there is no new information at this time.
Since the park is owned by the state, police say they do not have authority to place any recording devices on the property.
However, they have been in contact with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to discuss additional security measures.
As always, the department is asking anyone who sees suspicious activity to contact police immediately.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact the Lincoln Township Police at 269-429-2444.
