WAYLAND, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Wayland Police Department, are investigating a case of possible drink tampering at a recent high school dance.
The investigation concerns Wayland Union High School, where a homecoming dance was held in the cafeteria on September 25.
Between 9 and 10 p.m., students began reporting that they were feeling sick. Suspecting possible drink tampering, officials secured all beverage containers, according to a statement by the department.
At this time, the Wayland Police are still investigating, and cannot confirm what substance, if any, was used.
Anyone who suffered negative effects during the dance is asked to come forward and report all information to Wayland Police at 160 West Superior Street or call 269-792-9366.
MLive also reported on Wednesday that two students were sent to the ER as a result of this incident.
Anyone who received medical treatment or went to a health care facility is also asked to save records and have them available.
In addition, a cash reward is being offered by the Allegan County Silent Observer program for anyone who provides solid investigative information, or that leads to the identification and arrest of a suspect(s) in this case.
