WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The victims of a weekend triple murder in Eaton County are said to be family members of the suspect, who is in custody on murder and felony firearms charges.
23-year-old Daniel James Sougstad is accused of shooting and killing John, Barbara, and Ryan Sougstad Friday night in Windsor Township before he fled the area, leading to a manhunt. He was later arrested in Ingham County without incident.
There are reports he headed to the Upper Peninsular Friday night, but investigators say he turned back around toward Eaton County at some point. Police received at least two 9-1-1 calls on reports of gunshots and screaming. A neighbor said an injured child showed up at their door.
Sougstad has been arraigned and is currently held without bond on charges related to the three murders.
