HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — UPDATE: One man is in custody in connection to the death of a woman reported missing earlier this week, according to an update from MLive Wednesday.
Previously, police had been investigating the disappearance of 64-year-old Melody Rohrer, who was last seen Monday Morning near County Road 215 in Hamilton Township.
On Wednesday, police announced that she had been found dead Tuesday, but no other details were released.
Later on Wednesday, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that she was the victim of a hit-and-run, and a 29-year-old White Pigeon man has been arrested.
The suspect was developed through a rigorous investigation and brought into custody on Tuesday.
Police say the suspect had hit Rohrer and then moved the body to another county. She had been out for her usual morning exercise.
That man is now facing charges of vehicular manslaughter, failure to stop at the scene of a crash involving serious personal injury, and concealing the death of an individual.
His name has not been released at this time, but he is expected to be arraigned Thursday.
The case remains under investigation at this time.
