EAST LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It was another wild weekend of college football, but it didn’t affect the top of the Coaches Poll. Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas A&M all stayed put in the top five after each team won Saturday.
Penn State jumped up to number eight overall after its 28-20 home win over Auburn, and BYU leaped up to number 16 following its 27-17 win over Arizona State in Provo.
The Michigan State Spartans entered the poll at number 21 after they beat the Miami Hurricanes 38-17 in South Florida, and Fresno State snuck into the poll at 25 after they edged UCLA 40-37 late Saturday night. The University of Michigan is 19th this week.
The Bruins dropped 11 spots because of the loss, but stayed in the poll at 24.
In the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, the University of Michigan is 19th this week, with Michigan State University 20th.
Michigan teams fared extremely well in college football this weekend. The University of Michigan Wolverines had three players with at least two rushing touchdowns in a 63-10 victory over Northern Illinois.
Payton Thorne threw four touchdowns and Kenny Walker rushed for 172 runs in a 38-17 Michigan State University win over Miami.
Western Michigan University stunned Pittsburgh 44-40. Eastern Michigan punched in five touchdowns on the ground en route to a 42-28 win at U-Mass. Central Michigan lost at LSU 49-21.
