WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO AM/FM) – Alex Avila is reportedly planning to retire at the end of the 2021 season.
Avila currently plays for the Washington Nationals, but he spent eight seasons with the Detroit Tigers from 2009-2015, playing for the squad in 2017 as well. Avila made an All-Star game as a catcher in 2011 while he was a member of the Tigers.
His father is the general manager for Detroit.
