PITTSBURGH, PA (WKZO AM/FM) – Reliever Kyle Funkhouser’s disastrous seventh-inning ended up giving the Detroit Tigers a 6-3 loss Monday at Pittsburgh.
Funkhouser picked up his third loss after giving up four runs in just an inning-and-two-thirds innings.
The Tigers took a 3-2 lead in the sixth when a Niko Goodrum double plated Robbie Grossman and Jeimer Candelario ahead of a Miguel Cabrera sacrifice fly. However, the last seven Tigers hitters were retired as they failed to score another run.
The Tigers send Wily Peralta to the mound against Pittsburgh tonight. The opening pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. EDT.
