SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An incident involving a stolen emergency vehicle injured a police officer Tuesday, according to the South Haven Police Department.
Around 4:00 p.m., police were made aware of a stolen emergency vehicle that was taken from South Haven Area Emergency Service, Station One, in Allegan County.
Police say the suspect gained access to the vehicle by breaking its windows. That suspect is also said to have broken into other buildings in the area.
On Tuesday, police arrested the suspect, after he and the stolen vehicle were spotted in South Haven.
During this incident, a South Haven police officer was involved in a crash. The officer was transported to Bronson South Haven with non-life threatening injuries. That crash is currently under investigation by the Michigan State Police, with no further details at this time.
The suspect has since been identified as a 42-year-old South Haven man, but his name has not yet been released.
He has been lodged at the Allegan County Jail on charges of breaking and entering and vehicle theft, among others.
