ALLEN PARK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Lions claimed kicker Austin Seibert and receiver KhaDarel Hodge off waivers yesterday.
To make room on the roster, Detroit released tight end Darren Fells and safety Dean Marlowe. Both are expected to re-sign with the team in the next few days after the Lions transfer players to the injured reserve list.
The Lions are reportedly adding quarterback Steven Montez to the practice squad. According to the NFL Network, Montez has signed with Detroit. He spent most of last season on the Washington Football Team’s practice squad.
The Lions had a spot open for another quarterback after backup Tim Boyle had surgery on a thumb that he broke in the preseason finale.
