UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – It’s back to school time along the Lakeshore.
The first day of classes for Academic 2022 is on Tuesday (Aug. 24, 2021) for students in Holland Public Schools and Holland Christian Schools. HPS has a full mask mandates for all students, teachers, staff and visitors in all of the district’s buildings, while Holland Christian is following guidance from the Ottawa County Department of Public Health in requiring students from kindergarten through sixth grade to be masked up.
Other area schools begin classes tomorrow (Hamilton, Fennville and Black River), next Tuesday (Zeeland and Saugatuck), and next Wednesday (West Ottawa and Calvary Schools of Holland). As for masking, West Ottawa, Black River and Saugatuck are following Holland’s lead in requiring all to be masked in all buildings, while Fennville is following Allegan County Health Department guidance for masking K-6 students, and a similar guidance from the Ottawa County Department of Public Health is being followed by Zeeland Public Schools.
As for the two major institutions of higher education in Ottawa County, students yesterday (Aug. 23, 2021) three days of moving into on-campus housing at the main campus of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, while the Hope College on-campus move-in day in Holland is on Friday. Classes begin next Tuesday (Aug. 21, 2021) for both GVSU and Hope
