Cornelius “Case” Blankestyn, age 98, of Zeeland, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021.
Cornelius was born in Munster, Indiana, on April 23, 1923, to John and Alice (Hoekstra) Blankestyn. He was a lifelong self-employed flower farmer, and he also worked twenty years for Herman Miller prior to retiring. Case was a charter member of Community Reformed Church where he had served on the church consistory. Case was a faithful Christian and sang His praises every chance he had. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lucille in 1996, his second wife Grace in 2020, and his grandson David Blankestyn in 2020.
He is survived by his children: Bonnie and Allen Boerman of Zeeland, Jerry and Mary Blankestyn of Sun City, Arizona, and Pat Blankestyn of Holland; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Barbara and Adam Richter (Erika, Adison), Bill and Liz Boerman (Fiona, Keeley, Pippa), Michael Blankestyn and Christine Tinker, Anne Blankestyn (Max, Cora).
A family funeral service was held at the Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State Street, Zeeland. The burial was in Zeeland Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and aids of Resthaven for their loving and professional care of Case. Memorial contributions may be made to Resthaven or Community Reformed Church.
