HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It will be 154 and counting for Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity on Friday (Aug. 13, 2021).
In a 4 PM ceremony, the local agency assisting in building affordable homes in the Holland/Zeeland vicinity will dedicate a residence on East 40th Street for the Rodriguez-Matos family. It’s one of five built by Habitat in the Park Vista Place development, in conjunction with Jubiliee Ministries, who is looking to bring 10 such dwellings into the community.
Ground was broken on this and two other homes at the end of this past November, with the other two structures nearing completion, thanks in part to nearly a thousand volunteers logging over 3,100 hours on the site.
“It’s been incredible to see three homes going up at the same time in the same neighborhood,” Habitat Executive Director Don Wilkinson said in a statement. “We believe that everyone deserves a safe, decent, affordable place to live, and at the end of the day, when we hand over the keys to their new home, we’ve made that dream a reality for the Rodriguez-Matos family.”
