PARCHMENT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A strong line of severe thunderstorms, packing strong winds, blew through West Michigan early Thursday morning. It had crews out working to restore power across the region.
The aftermath includes downed trees, power lines, and light posts, which caused numerous power outages. A large tree was reported down in the area of 108th Avenue and 120th just north of Otsego. Trees and power lines were also reportedly down in the 400 block of N. Riverview in Parchment. Drivers had to avoid those areas during the Thursday morning commute.
Other heavily affected areas follow a line from Ottawa County to Allegan, southeast to Otsego, Plainwell, and northeast Kalamazoo County, southern Calhoun County, and northern Branch County.
Altogether, about 10,000 energy customers were without power in West Michigan.
