DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Fourth of July weekend travel could be record setting, nationally and in Michigan. AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland broke down those predictions.
“Nationwide, were expecting more than 47 million Americans will take at least one trip this Independence Day. That time period being between July 1st and July 5th. Locally in Michigan, we’re expecting more than 1.5 million people will take a trip during that time period.”
She says it’s a nearly 40-percent increase nationwide from last year when travel was heavily limited due to the pandemic. In Michigan, a 22 percent increase in 4th of July travel is expected compared to 2020.
