LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Michigan State Police are once again cracking down on speeders after not writing as many tickets during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sergeant Matt Rogers of the Grand Rapids Post says speeding has become a problem over the past year and a half as they limited their traffic stops to avoid close contact with people.
“Now that we kind of have a grasp on this whole COVID thing, we’re trying to gain some of the ground we lost over that year and a half.”
Troopers are stepping up patrols statewide through June 27 along with other local police agencies. Rogers says stats show speed has been an issue in deadly crashes.
