COLDWATER, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Branch County Prosecuting Attorney Zach Stempien announced on Thursday that a warrant has been issued for a Coldwater man in the April 12 death of a woman whose bicycle was struck by an S.U.V. on Old U.S. 27 near Nye Road.
27-year-old Jacob Daniel Ward has been charged with Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death, Reckless Driving Causing Death, Moving Violation Causing Death, Use of Methamphetamines, and Use of Marijuana.
Michigan State Police investigated the crash. Stempien says the bicyclist, who was from Coldwater, was riding along the roadway when she was reportedly struck from behind by a vehicle allegedly driven by Ward. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
A warrant for Ward’s arrest was issued on May 25. He has not yet been apprehended by law enforcement.
Ward is described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is six-foot-four who weighs about 200 pounds.
