ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Monday, Consumers Energy announced that it will be transporting a home from Byron Center, MI, to Dorr, MI in Allegan County this week.
Officials say the transportation will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. this Tuesday. The project will be moved to June 22 in case of bad weather or other circumstances.
The house move will begin at Prescott Street SW in Byron Center and end at 14th street in Dorr.
The house is being moved at the request of the homeowner, and will allow for expanded parking at a nearby church.
Consumers Energy says it has coordinated the move with the homeowner and other utilities which have wires attached to poles, including telephone, internet and cable television, to interrupt as few customers as possible.
However, nearby residents may still experience some power interruptions, which are expected to last one to two hours as the house passes.
There may be additional delays for other communications services, such as telephone, internet or cable television. Officials say those services will be back after the electricity is restored.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible and to be aware of temporary road closings while the work is underway.
