ST IGNACE MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Governor Whitmer has announced a plan that would invest in state parks and trails.
The Governor made the announcement at Straits State Park in St. Ignace.
The proposal would use 250 million dollars of federal money from the American Rescue Plan to improve Michigan parks and trails, as well as help foster the state’s place as a tourism destination.
In addition to new renovations, Whitmer said the money would also be used to address the backlog of current infrastructure projects.
Statistics indicate that on average, every $1 invested in land conservation leads to $4 in economic benefit in Michigan.
