COOPERSTOWN, NY (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan natives Derek Jeter and Ted Simmons will have to wait a little longer to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame announced yesterday that the induction ceremony for the 2020 class has been moved from this summer to September 8. The induction ceremony was pushed back to allow for fans.
Jeter, who grew up in Kalamazoo, played shortstop from 1995-2014 with the New York Yankees. Simmons was born in Highland Park and was a catcher with St. Louis, Milwaukee and Atlanta from 1968 to 1988.
The ceremony will also honor Larry Walker with the late Marvin Miller.
