HARTFORD TWP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Van Buren County man is in jail after leading police on a high-speed chase and barricading himself in his home on Friday.
According to a news release, deputies received a tip that 40-year-old Scott Martin was at a Paw Paw Township scrapyard trying to sell catalytic converters that may have been stolen. When deputies arrived around 3 p.m., Martin fled in an SUV waving a hatchet out the window.
Martin then led deputies on a high speed chase through several townships before driving himself to his home along Rush Lake in Hartford Township and barricading himself in it.
The standoff lasted for about two hours, and there were no injuries resulting from the incident.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said that Martin was a suspect in several larcenies and break-ins, and had multiple felony warrants, including parole absconding.
