Calvin J. Yonker, 69, of Zeeland, was received into Glory on Sunday, May 23, 2021.
Cal was born in Holland on August 14, 1951, to Bernard and Juliet (Nyhuis) Yonker. He was raised with his siblings in Bentheim and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1969. Cal married Eunice Haveman on July 25, 1972, and they raised their family in Zeeland. Cal and Eunice are members of the First Protestant Reformed Church of Holland. Cal served as a deacon, and an elder at church, on the Heritage Christian School Board, and on the P.R. Special Education Board. Cal worked many years in industrial sales. Last 12 years he worked as a representative for Miedema Auctioneering. Cal loved spending time with his family, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Eunice, their children and grandchildren: Brenda and Tom Pastoor of Zeeland (Caleb and Kimberly, Joel, Megan), Leesa and Kevin Van Overloop of Hudsonville (Brantley, Brice, and Olivia, Brittney, Brylynn, Brielle), Eric and Marcy Yonker of Zeeland (Reese, Cambry), Nate and Holly Yonker of Allegan (Layna, Maliah); sister Norma and Sherwin Boersen, brother Jerry and Bonnie Yonker, in-laws: Wilma and Brent Overway, Les and Joyce Haveman, Clare Haveman, Marlene, and Doug Haan, Donna and Deane Wassink, John Haveman, and many extended family and friends.
A funeral service to honor the faith and life of Cal Yonker will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at First Protestant Reformed Church of Holland, 3641 104th Ave., Zeeland MI 49464. The Rev. Ronald Van Overloop will officiate. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Tuesday, also at church. Interment will be in Bentheim Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland or Heritage Christian School.
