HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Michigan Department of Transportation officials have issued three reminders of road construction projects underway this season. The work is weather dependent. MDoT officials appeal to drivers to watch out for the safety of road-construction workers and help make sure they get home safely at the end of their workdays.
Fennville/Ganges, Allegan County
Lane closures for culvert work will be in effect through mid-September on northbound and southbound I-196 just south of M-89.
Wayland/Shelbyville Allegan County
M-179 (129th Avenue) will close at the railroad tracks on the east side of Gun Lake Casino (between US-131 and 10th Street), through May 17. Detour: South on 12th Street, east on 124th Avenue and north on 10th Street. Access to the Gun Lake Casino from US-131 and M-179 will remain open.
MDoT has partnered with the Gun Lake Tribe, investing approximately $26 million to rebuild the US-131/M-179 interchange and resurface US-131 from 120th Avenue to 133rd Avenue in Allegan County. The two-year project is scheduled to open to traffic in November 2022.
Woodland, Barry County
Daily (6 a.m. to 8 p.m.) lane closures for road work will be in effect through June 4 on M-66 from Coats Grove Road to M-50 (Brown Road).
