DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Carlos Santana hit a two-run homer as the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 3-2 Monday afternoon.
Whit Merrifield hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning to put Kansas City ahead for good.
Brad Keller gave up two runs on eight hits over six innings to pick up his second win of the year for KC, while Josh Staumont got his second save. The Royals have won five straight.
Miguel Cabrera and Grayson Greiner had RBI singles for Detroit in the third and fourth innings, respectively. Spencer Turnbull took the loss, giving up three runs over six innings of work.
The Tigers have dropped five straight. They begin a three-game set against the White Sox in Chicago tonight. Jose Urena gets the start for Detroit against Chicago’s Lucas Giolito in the opener.
