DETROIT, MI (WKZO-AM/FM) – The Tigers dropped the opener of a 4-game series against AL Central-leading Kansas City, 6-2 at Comerica Park. Casey Mize was roughed up in taking the loss, allowing all 6 Royals runs on 7 hits in 4-2/3 innings. KC starter Mike Minor held Detroit scoreless until Robbie Grossman hit a 2-run homer in the fifth. The Tigers will send Matthew Boyd to the mound this afternoon against Brady Singer.
Miguel Cabrera could return to the Tigers lineup as soon as tomorrow. Manager A.J. Hinch said Cabrera would be activated from the 10-day injured list this weekend. He sustained a left biceps strain against Cleveland on April 10.
