GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A spring snowstorm is expected to bring winter weather and also some unseasonably cold temperatures to West Michigan this week.
The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch for all counties in the region, excluding the ones along the Michigan/Indiana border, from Tuesday evening through Thursday morning. During that time, low temperatures are supposed to drop into the mid-20s and the freezing conditions could damage some budding fruit trees and other sensitive vegetation. The cold may also damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Daytime highs those days are forecast for the low 40s, about 20 degrees cooler than average.
Along with the frigid air, measurable snow is forecast. But the latest storm models suggest less snowfall than previously expected. Still, some areas could see an inch or two with higher amounts in isolated spots.
