LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Michigan has extended the mask requirement to children ages 2-4.
The change in policy was prompted by the latest surge in cases of COVID-19, and will go into effect on April 26.
The American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended that action, stating that mask wearing is proven to greatly reduce the spread of the virus.
In addition, the state Department of Health and Human Services extended the order on wearing masks and limits on indoor gatherings through May 24.
That order also expands testing requirements for youths participating in sports.
