Lorraine Nykamp, age 92, entered Heaven on her 92nd birthday on Monday, April 12, 2021, peacefully in her home with her family at her side.
Lorraine was a member of Niekerk Christian Reformed Church and volunteered for Appalachian Reach Out for over 10 years. She was born in East Saugatuck and attended East Saugatuck CRC with her family growing up. She was a Holland High School graduate. She was a hardworking caregiver who expressed her gift of hospitality throughout her entire life. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Nykamp; daughter, Nancy Schermer, and a granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Terpstra.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia and Maurie Terpstra; daughter, Debra and Loren Haan; daughter, Jana and Kevin Schaap; son-in-law, Bruce Schermer; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Jack and Charlotte Nykamp; and brother-in-law, Harris and Alma Nykamp.
Private family services to take place on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Niekerk Christian Reformed Church 545 Country Club Rd. Holland, MI 49423 with Rev. Darren Kornelis officiating.
Burial to take place in Zeeland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lorraine’s honor to American Diabetes, Benjamin’s Hope, or Hospice of Holland.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the outstanding care their mother received from the staff of Hospice of Holland and in particular staff members, Chad and Amanda.
