LANSING, MI — The Michigan Board of Barber Examiners is fining Owosso barber Karl Manke 45-hundred dollars and his Karl Manke Main Street Barber and Beauty Shop the same amount for a total of nine-grand. The fines are for giving unlicensed haircuts on the state Capitol steps last summer and for violations with sanitation and equipment.
Manke opened his barber shop back up against state COVID-19 orders last May. Misdemeanor charges against the Owosso barber were dropped in October after the Michigan Supreme Court ruled the governor does not have authority to continue a state of emergency without legislative approval.
