UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – On Saturday night, four Lakeshore teams hope to join Calvary in the MHSAA boys’ basketball tournament regionals with victories in district final action.
At Zeeland East, the Chix host West Ottawa, with Greg Chandler’s coverage starting at 6:40 PM on 99 7/1450 WHTC.
In Fennville’s Morehead Gymnasium, the Blackhawks entertain Covenant Christian, with coverage also starting at 6:40 PM on The Lakeshore’s 92 7 The Van.
At Coloma, Holland Christian takes on Benton Harbor.
Calvary advanced to the regional semifinal at Niles against either Tri-unity Christian or Martin as the Crusaders won on Thursday evening over Muskegon Catholic Central, 44-42.
On Friday night, the last remaining Lakeshore team in the state girls’ basketball tournament bowed out, as Hamilton was humiliated by West Catholic in a district final at Coopersville, 50-27.

Spring Training baseball on Friday: Detroit Tigers 5, Pittsburgh Pirates 2; the Chicago Cubs played to a 5-5 tie with the San Francisco Giants; and Chicago White Sox 7, Milwaukee Brewers 5. On Saturday afternoon: The Tigers face the Philadelphia Phillies in Lakeland, with Dan Dickerson’s coverage starting at 1 PM on 99 7/1450 WHTC; and the White Sox take on the Colorado Rockies. Taro Hirose’s two-goal, one-assist performance helped the Grand Rapids Griffins down the Iowa Wild in Des Moines on Friday night, 5-2. The two teams meet again at Wells Fargo Arena on Saturfday evening.
