INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WKZO AM/FM) – Eli Brooks and Chaundee Brown scored 21 points apiece as top-seeded University of Michigan got by LSU 86-78 in the second round of the East Region in Indianapolis Monday night.
Franz Wagner added 15 points for the Wolverines, who will face fourth-seeded Florida State in the Sweet 16 Sunday.
Cameron Thomas tallied a game-high 30 points for the eighth-seeded Tigers. Javonte Smart added 27 for LSU, which ends its season 19-and-10.
The Sweet 16 is set. Four Pac-12 programs highlight the field as the next round of the NCAA Tournament gets underway Saturday. UCLA, USC, Oregon, and Oregon State have all advanced to the next weekend of March Madness. Oregon State will take on Loyola Chicago Saturday while USC and Oregon clash Sunday. UCLA will face Alabama Sunday.
Number-one seeds Baylor, Gonzaga, and Michigan have also advanced. The Bears will face Villanova on Saturday, the Wolverines take on Florida State on Sunday, while the Bulldogs battle Creighton Sunday as well.
