PLAINWELL, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Walmart store located in Plainwell is closed until Saturday morning related to a COVID-19 outbreak. The store, located on M-89 near U.S. 131, closed at 2:00 p.m. Thursday and will not reopen until 7:00 a.m. tomorrow.
The Allegan County Health Department says the store closed voluntarily so they could do a deep clean of the entire building. They reported that up to ten people who had positive tests recently in Allegan County had listed that Walmart store as a worksite and that the asymptomatic cases were confirmed after the employer had encouraged testing.
Local health officials say they plan to work with Walmart to make sure the virus is contained as much as possible, and that they are also looking to identify cases in nearby jurisdictions.
