HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – No injuries were reported as firefighters with the Holland Department of Public Safety put out a blaze at a home in the 600 block of Van Raalte Ave. on Saturday (Mar. 13, 2021) afternoon.
Crews were dispatched to the residence around 1:30 PM on a report that fire and smoke were visible at that address. When they arrived, they saw the garage “was well involved with fire,” according to Captain of Fire Services Chris Tinney in a department statement. “All occupants, including the family pet, safely escaped the home prior to the arrival of the department. Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire and limit fire damage to the garage area of the home. This effort also eliminated any damage or flame spread to neighboring homes.”
Tinney added that damage estimates were not immediately available, and that a cause of the blaze wasn’t immediately determined as the matter remains under investigation.
