DIMONDALE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Some new Michigan State Police troopers are beginning their first full week at their new posts serving the Lakeshore.
Among the 55 who graduated from the 138th Trooper Recruit School last Thursday, dispatched to the Rockford post that covers Ottawa County are Amanda Brauer of Howell, Michael DeVries of Grand Rapids and Grant Gunneson of Grandville. Sent to the Wayland post that covers Allegan County are Sarah Brown of Bradenton, Florida and Korey Casey of Plainfield, Illinois. Spencer Toepfer of Grand Haven has been assigned to the Hart post.
The newcomers spent nearly six months training in firearms, water safety, defensive tactics, patrol techniques, report writing, ethics, cultural diversity and implicit bias, decision making, leadership, first aid, criminal law, crime scene processing and precision driving.
As the 138th class moves on, the 139th class began its session on Sunday, and the State Police is already accepting applications for the 140th class
