HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The sound of bouncing basketballs in competition will not be heard in DeVos Fieldhouse on Saturday.
Hope College officials announced on Friday afternoon the scheduled men’s game against visiting Kalamazoo will not be played due to COVID 19 protocols. It was not disclosed whether this involved the Flying Dutchmen or the Hornets. No make up date was immediately determined.
It is the third such contest at DeVos Fieldhouse for the Orange and Blue to be postponed in such a manner this season, following matches slated against visiting Adrian on Jan. 20, and visiting Alma on Jan. 23. Hope was able to make up the game against Alma, falling 65-64 to the Scots on Jan. 29. The contest versus the Bulldogs has yet to be made up.
The Flying Dutchmen, 2-2 on the overall season, begin MIAA play on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, when the Olivet Comets are set to be at DeVos Fieldhouse, with broadcast time at 7:10 p.m. on The Lakeshore’s 92 7 The Van.
The men’s game postponement has no bearing on the scheduled Hope at Kalamazoo women’s basketball game set for Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021.
