Patrick Wayne Borst of Saugatuck, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 22, 2021. Patrick was born to his loving parents Joseph and Barbara (Smith) Borst on June 4, 1978.
He was a native of Saugatuck and its water-based lifestyle, this would instill a deep love of boating and everything water based. Patrick graduated from Saugatuck high school and went on to earn his bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from Michigan Tech University. Patrick was a lover of all things mechanical and was deeply passionate about creating and constructing things from metal. He was a gifted welder with MIG/TIG steel and aluminum. He built, restored, and repaired many boats and other vehicles to be used in the water or on land.
Patrick was a mechanical genius with an eye for beauty in everything he touched. He would use his talents and abilities to assist and help his community whenever he could. Patrick was always willing to offer a helping hand to all who asked, no job was to big or to small. It didn’t matter if he was working hard or playing hard, Patrick always had his bright smile shining and you would always know where he was by his infectious laugh.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife Kara (Gauthier) Borst; father Joseph Borst, mother Barbara (Smith) Borst’; their four children Laine Borst, Ava Borst, Nolan Gauthier and Landon Gauthier. His two siblings Joseph Borst and Richard Borst. Grandparents Richard and Ruby Smith. Along with his uncountable other family and friends.
Chappell Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements. There will be a Celebration of Life for Patrick at a later time.
