WASHTENAW COUNTY MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The new variant strain of COVID-19 has made an appearance in Michigan.
State health officials say that the B.1.1.7 virus showed up in a woman from Washtenaw County.
The woman said that she had recently traveled to Great Britain, which is where the strain began.
B.1.1.7 is said to be more contagious than the original coronavirus, and has been found in several other locations in the US.
Experts have said that it can be detected by testing, and the current vaccine is successful against it.
