Florida State defensive tackle Marvin Wilson declared for the 2021 NFL Draft on Friday.
A potential first-round pick, Wilson registered 109 tackles, 15 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks in 39 games with the Seminoles.
The 6-foot-5, 305-pound senior has been out since October with a season-ending leg injury. He played in six games in 2020, recording 17 tackles and one sack.
He also suffered a season-ending hand injury in November 2019.
“My time here in Tallahassee has come to an end, and all I can say is I’m more than thankful for the opportunity to represent this logo,” Wilson posted Friday on social media. “… With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft to pursue my dreams.”
His announcement came just hours after the Seminoles’ season finale at Wake Forest was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns in the Florida State program. The Seminoles (3-6) also reportedly won’t accept a bowl invitation, so their season is over.
Because of the disruption caused by the pandemic this season, Wilson had the option to return to Florida State or transfer to another program for an additional season of eligibility.
Wilson was projected as a first-round pick in the 2020 draft before opting to return for his senior season. He was a first-team All-ACC selection and a Bednarik Award semifinalist in 2019.
