ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Operations at the 57th District Court in Allegan have been temporarily suspended after an ongoing COVID 19 outbreak.
Saying on Tuesday that this is a “temporary” move, there will be only “essential” hearings for the court off of Chestnut Street in the county seat through next Friday, December 18th. “Court officials said that they are complying with the county’s testing, contact tracing, quarantine and isolation protocols, which impairs staffing capacity to provide full operation of court services at this time,” said Court Administrator Linda Lenahan in a statement. “There will be no in-person assistance at the service windows; however, the court will remain open for telephone calls, email and ordinary mail.”
Lenahan did not immediately say what led to the shutdown. The 48th Circuit Court operations were not affected.
District Court hearings involving defendants in custody will be held virtually during this period, while other hearings are being rescheduled for after the scheduled resumption of normal court operations on Monday, January 4th.
“As quickly as protocols and directives can be satisfied, full court services will be reengaged,” Lenahan added.
