ALLEN PARK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Darrell Bevell says he’s “honored” to get the chance to be the interim head coach of the Detroit Lions for the next five weeks.
Bevell was named to the post this weekend when Matt Patricia was fired and has been Detroit’s offensive coordinator since last January. He spent 18 years as an assistant with the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks, and quarterback Matthew Stafford says he’s thrilled with the choice.
Bevell makes his debut Sunday at Chicago. Bevell says he’s been told he could become a candidate to be the full-time head coach.
Seattle is back alone in first place in the NFC West. Russell Wilson threw a touchdown pass and Chris Carson scored on the ground as the Seahawks held off the Eagles 23-17 in Philadelphia. Seattle is now 8-and-3. Philly fell to 3-7-and-1 in the NFC East.
The San Francisco 49ers will play their next two home games in Glendale, Arizona. They host Buffalo Monday and then Washington in Week 14 at State Farm Stadium, home of the Cardinals. It became necessary due to new COVID-19 restrictions in Santa Clara County.
The Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers will have to wait at least one more day to get their Week 12 game in. It’s being moved for a third time to Wednesday at 3:40 p.m. Eastern after a COVID-19 outbreak among the Ravens.
Baltimore is 6-and-4, while Pittsburgh is 10-and-0.4
