ALLEN PARK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Detroit Lions are in the market for a new head coach and general manager after firing head coach Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn Saturday.
Patricia compiled a 13-29-and-1 record since taking over as the Lions’ coach in 2018. The Lions had a 31-43-and-1 record in Quinn’s GM tenure. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell will serve as the team’s interim head coach.
The Lions play this coming Sunday against the Chicago Bears.
Elsewhere in the NFC North Sunday, Aaron Rodgers threw touchdown passes to four different receivers as the Green Bay Packers blew out the Chicago Bears 41-25 on Sunday Night Football at Lambeau Field. Jamaal Williams had a TD on the ground for Green Bay, which opened a 27-3 lead in the second quarter.
The Packers lead the NFC North at 8-and-3.
Mitchell Trubisky threw three TD passes for Chicago, but was also picked off twice and lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. The Bears lost their fifth in-a-row to fall below .500 at 5-and-6.
Joey Slye missed a 54 yard field goal with six seconds left as the Minnesota Vikings beat the Carolina Panthers 28-27 in Minneapolis. Kirk Cousins threw for 307 yards and three touchdowns in the win as Minnesota moved to 5-and-6.
